Hi everyone,

(I'm helping with organisation for the Open Hardware MiniConf, which
is replacing the Arduino MiniConf.)

As others have pointed out, signup isn't open yet - we've been
finalising a few details for the assembly project which relate to the
cost. Signup will appear over the next couple of days, and there will
be an announcement on this list. Thanks everyone for being patient!

Here's a quick teaser announcement though: the assembly project this
year will be "SimpleBot Pi", which is the latest revision of an open
low cost robotics platform originally developed by Andrew Fisher and
further developed by a few people from the Melbourne hackerspace.

SimpleBot Pi is an autonomous Linux powered robot, connected via wifi,
with sensors and RGB LEDs to interact with its environment - as well
as lots of room for further expansion.

More technical details will be available by the time signup is open.

There will also be the usual MiniConf short talks, separate to the
build project, which won't require special signup.

Hope to see many of you there!

Angus

PS Unfortunately the SimpleBot Pi is not 100% Open Hardware, not least
because it's Raspberry Pi based. We'd love for it to be 100% Open
Hardware, but time & cost restrictions conspired against us this
time. There are three different Open Hardware designs incorporated in
the SimpleBot Pi - Freetronics PiLeven, the SimpleBot Shield, and the
SimpleBot mechanical design itself.
