Yes, this is a slight gotcha with 2degrees (well, at least, it got me).  If you go outside of the CBD, and you failover to Vodafone coverage, your phone believes it is roaming (because, well, it is).

By default most phones default to disabling data while roaming, meaning your data mysteriously disappears when you lose native 2degrees coverage.

Easy solution: enable data roaming.  It doesn’t cost you any extra.
