SuperShuttle has a rank at the airport, and there's no need to pre-book
when travelling *from the airport. *
Other shuttle companies do not have ranks, and need to be pre-booked.

If you want to get a shuttle back *to* the airport, you will need to book,
probably at least a day in advance.
